What life is like working for TEC

Set up in July 2017 CRG TEC is still a relatively new business but we’re going from strength to strength, punching well above our weight in terms of the types of clients we work with and attracting great technical Recruiters to come and work for us.

How have we done that so quickly? Underneath the sales spiel what’s it actually like to work here?

Calling it out at the start I’ve known Neil and Stephen, our Directors and fearless leaders, for years.

They were top billers at another recruitment agency I worked for and when they left to set up CRG TEC, then needed to expand, there was no way I wasn’t throwing my hat in the ring for that job. Having been here a year now with front row seats to that continued growth and evolution of the business there’s no doubt I made the right choice.

Atmosphere

CRG TEC was founded by Stephen and Neil off the back of their 30 years combined experience in the recruitment industry. They know what both good and bad agencies are like to work in and wanted to emulate the success stories, but with their own twist. With the backing of our investment company HCRG Group (£400 million turnover) and advice of industry leaders including Ian Munro, Tristan Ramus and Jamie Webb, in less than 2 years CRG TEC now has 6 technical divisions and are looking to continue expanding.

Working for CRG TEC is different to most recruitment agencies. You’re not hit over the head with KPIs, call times aren’t logged, no “power hour” for business development, you’re not chained to your desk – basically you’re treated like an adult. Everyone here has joined to work hard and make success of themselves and TEC, so what matters to us is the end result, finding the best candidate for our client.

This shows in the quality of work. Our client and candidate base trusts us because they’re not just a name on a database or a cold call on a list, our specialists understand their industry, take time to get to know the people their speaking to and work hard to find them the right solution.

Across the board our Consultants work to a CRG TEC methodology which gets results. We’re not pretending its rocket science, but it is thorough, flexible and a proven success with start-ups to blue chips. So if you’re looking for a company where you can be yourself, work closely with clients and candidates and have a good time without being micromanaged TEC could be the option for you.

Development

There are lots of opportunities to develop here, and not just the normal REC or IoR courses the world and his dog have been on. CRG TEC have the backing of the wider HCRG Group and it is a big advantage to have access to their in house “Development Academy”. So if you think a leadership and management course is going to help or you would love the chance to do a PRINCE2, put a good business case forward and we can help with that.

CRG TEC is a technical recruitment agency and we work with a lot of techie start-ups and SMEs. We’ve seen that the best of those clients, take people’s skill set and passions, outside of their day-to-day work, and where possible try and incorporate those into our daily jobs. We are pretty much aiming to build divisions in the same view as the clients we support.

This means that if you want to, alongside recruitment which is always going to be your main role, you can get involved in areas such as marketing, contract management, tenders and operations behind running a successful agency. You get the chance to really get involved in the 360 operations of being a successful recruitment business. Not pigeon holed into a slot and told not to lift your head until you hit targets!

We’re still a growing organisation so there’s lots of scope for you to make your mark in here.

Extra-curricular

I’m fully aware every workplace says this but, genuinely, everyone in CRG TEC gets on really well. Recruitment is a pressured job but what makes it easier is knowing that the person opposite you is willing to crack a joke when that placement’s pulled out, rally you round, and help you start again.

We celebrate as a team; whether that’s impromptu Friday night drinks, more formal affairs like Ladies Day or even the annual company holiday (which is not dependent on targets hit!) everyone enjoys spending time with each other out of work. It’s not just about hitting the bar either – we do Tough Mudders, half-marathons and TEDx Talks together so there’s something for everyone.

It’s important to us your able to enjoy working here, feel like a valued member of the team from day one and have something to work toward. Alongside the generous monthly commission structure each year, you and our Directors will sit down and set individual annual incentives that are personal to you, and rewarded as an additional thank you for doing your job well.
